FotoConnection complaint by Suzana
FotoConnection is a scam and buying from them one is under a big risk!!!! I ordered Canon Rebel XTi digital camera under the price that was stated on their web site and recived a phone call from the sales person (Sam) the next day pushing me to buy some additional stuff (like batteries) I didn't even need. He lied to me about prices and shipping dates and basicly everything he said was not corrrect. What I recived in the box was not exactlly what I ordered or was said will be. They charged my credit card 200$ more than I initially wanted to pay and by cheating made me to sign additional agrement.

This place should be closed down!!!

After ordering my digital camera, I received an e-mail instructing me to "call and confirm" my order. I called and after 30 minutes on hold, the representative didn't give me her name, but told me the reason that e-mail was sent to me was because "You forgot to but the battery" As an average person would assume the battery would normally be included. Because I had already purchased this camera in the past, and it broke, I said "that's alright, i actually already have a battery". The representative argued with me about how that isn't possible and then if I did have a battery that I needed the warranty. I respectfully declined everything she offered and inquired as to if I would receive my camera in the 3 days that I paid extra to have it delivered by. The representative told me "no", and that I would have to wait five more days (I had already waited 3). When I began to argue that I had paid for 3 day delivery, the representative hung up on me.

I immediately called my credit company to cancel the transaction. The credit company representative told me that the order hadn't been processed so it couldn't be canceled. I called fotoconnection again and waited on hold again. I spoke with a different representative and told him "I want to cancel my transaction." He asked me "Well why do you want to do that?" I told him that I am entitled to cancel it and that an explanation need not be necessary. He "looked up" my order and said "Oh, your order has been shipped, I can't cancel it. " I told him once more that I wanted it canceled. He said that the only way would be to charge me the shipping and handling for the camera to be shipped to my residence and back to the company. Then he assured me that I would receive the camera in two days, and that "of course" a battery was included.

I used my brain and asked myself this question - Would a company ship their product without receiving payment for it first? - No, no they would not.

So, the company makes it impossible to cancel the order - can't do it through the credit company because the transaction hasn't been made, and can't do it through them because the representative claims the order has been shipped.

Solution: The only way to get out of this scam it to call your credit company back and cancel the card (card number) you used to order online. (This is the same as reporting your card lost/stolen). That way that card no longer has a working number and the company cannot take any money from your account. This is what I did.

If my camera has already "been shipped", like they say, then I will be more than happy to write the company a check when I receive my camera on "Friday". If I was misinformed by the company representative then at least they won't get a dime from me. I feel sympathetic for those that didn't find a way out of this scam. It is definitely a lesson learned, and I plan to report this to the Better Business Bureau.

I was looking for a Nikon S550. I read bad comments about FotoConnection and was going to buy elsewhere. Meanwhile, my husband searched for a low price and ordered it from them. When I found out I said "OMG! They are a scam!" He confirmed my suspicions when he told me they called him and told him the battery only lasts 15 minutes and he should order an extra one. They got him to buy a longer life battery and case, tripod and cleaner. for $49.

So the camera arrives, and the battery is the one that comes with the camera. I went to Nikon's website and confirmed the battery number that comes with their products. They charged us for a battery that is included in the regular package. Plus it was not factory sealed as stated. Also was made in Japan not the US. We want to return it but they will just charge us 15% restocking fee, so they get the money either way. They suck. I can't believe they get away with this s**t.

I bought a Canon 40d protective armor stating it would fit my 40d and received a canon 30d protective armor instead. Tried to return it and they said the 30d protective armor would fit on the 40d. I explained to them that the button set up is differrent on the 40d and 30d and she would not listen. I returned it and they said they would send me the right product. Nothing yet, did not receieve nothing. Tried to do a refund and they would not do a refund.

Do not buy from them! they do a bait and switch with export models. When I learned of this I told them to cancel my order, yet they still processed it and I still have the headache of not getting a full refund. Even after the fact they still shipped it out after I learned they processed the order. The customer service reps are the rudest I have ever met too. They all claim to be the head supervisor if you ask to speak to someone in charge.

i've tried to buy a camera from this place also, luckily, i did not sign any agreement or anything they have emailed to me. a sales rep told me that by signing the new agreement, i would get the total package of a sony sr8 with 50% off. the camera itself was advertised for $700, but after buying a package deal, it would come out to $1,200. the sales rep emailed me a new agreement, and by signing it, i would get the whoel total package for $1,200, which includes everything extra. i realize it was too good to be true, so i wanted to cancel the deal. the sale rept told me, there is no way to cancel it, and if i were to cancel it, i would be charge $200 for canceling the order which is in process of shipping at the moment. i respond- if i haven't pay for the product, why would it be in process? the sales rep kept on pressuring me to sign the paper. after 30 mins on the phone with him and reviewing the paper agreement he had emailed to me, i realize it was a scam for more money by pressuring people to cancel the order so they would collect $200. i told the sale rep, if i get charge $200 for nothing, i will get a lawyer to sue their company for frauding consumer. the sale rep just hung up, i called back to comfirm my order, and it was cancel.. i called my bank to stop any transaction via online statement.

Hi, I was scammed by this fraud fotoconnection company. After ordering, they charged me $80 more than the actual price on web. I e-mailed them (as you know, the phone services are terrible) to ask the reason several times, but they've never responded and I requested to cancel it, but they said unable to do after shipping. Actually, at the moment they have not shipped yet. I supposed to stop payments, but it's too late. Anyway, I wanna stand up against this fraud group with scammed customers.
