FotoConnection complaint by Jona26
I just made a purchase through Fotoconnection.comless than an hour ago, than after i started reading some bad reviews i called them back to cancel my order which was for

nikon d80(and much more)about $1000. I waited for the customer rep for about 20 min,and when I told him I wanted to cancel he said they were closed and started talking in an unbelievable rude way and even yelling!!!! (what the f****,..my god!) .... I don`t know how these people are still in business.

I called up my bank an had to close my account.

DON`T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM.

I completely agree. I tried ordering a Canon Rebel XTi from this place. 30 Minutes after placing the order, I received a phone call from one of their sales reps to "confirm" my order, but it was actually an attempt to upsell me on a battery that I was told "wasn't included with the package." This seemed odd to me, so I went to the website with the guy on the phone and told him the description clearly showed there was a battery included with the order. He told me this was a one time use battery that is meant to get me started. When I asked him why it also stated that a charger came with the battery, i was then told that i could only charge the battery up to three times, to which i told him "then it's not a one time use battery then, is it?" He then tried to sell me a new lens for the camera and I told him to just send me what I ordered and nothing more. I was told it would ship that day. The next day, I received another phone call trying to pull the same crap, but this time I was offered a "great package" for $99 to get a warranty, better bag, tripod, lenses, and all this other rediculous stuff. I told the guy no, and he then told me I needed to buy a warranty to cover the camera, especially since it was fragile and made of plastic. I asked him what he meant, and he then told me that the camera was the INTERNATIONAL model (i.e., grey market) and that the US version was made of metal and I would have to pay $99 more to upgrade to the US version. I told him to cancel my order because that isn't what I ordered, to which he panicked and said he would upgrade it for free and throw in all the other stuff. I told him fine and got off the phone, but felt uneasy about the whole thing. I called back and said I wanted my order cancelled. I was transferred to 3 different people, then finally was put on with this *** who treated me like I was an idiot for cancelling. He then told me he was going to charge me a 15% restocking fee. I asked him how he could do that when my card had never been charged and the order had never gone to the shipping floor (both of which were the only stipulations listed in their policies that justified that charge). He then threatened me with a 25% restocking fee (which is nowhere to be found on the website). When I was trying to tell him what his website said, he was on the other side singing "sorry" while I was talking! I felt like I was talking to a 5 year old! I ended up having to cancel my credit card so they couldn't charge anything.

This place is the most wretched thing I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I would rather be mauled to death by a squirrel than ever deal with them again.

Thanks for posting. I almost bought a d80 from them today and decided to check in to them since they were more than $100 less than B&H. (I have found B&H to be the cheapest most times.) I am glad they aren't going to have me for a customer. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Something similar is happening to me! I ordered the Canon Rebel XTI on 1-30-08 with the 18-55 lens. Their package was advertised at $549, $150 less than retail stores, but the sales rep "upgraded" me to better "aspherical" real glass 55-80 lens for $79 more. I found out today that canon lenses are all glass, so basically they lie to you and make you think you are getting something better. When I got the package on 2-8, 9 days later (even though 4 day expedited shipping was promised) I got an off brand "Tameron" lens! In order to get the canon lens I expected, I had to spend an additional $20! Their reasoning was that the 18-55 lens that comes with the kit is also an off brand and plastic and you need to pay $100 more for glass. I called Canon and they verified that all their lenses are glass, the only difference in the 18-55 lens is this year's has image stabilization and last years doesn't. $569 later, I am finally getting what I thought I had ordered in the first place. But only after I email the RMA # and jump through more hoops! So if you buy a camera from any online store, make sure you know exactly what brand lens you are getting! They were also very rude and are pushy like car salespeople!
