This site above has a Nikon D300 12.3 megapixel for $1199. Also, some very nice accessories for free if you buy this camera such as tripod, case, etc.
Very nice website looks very professional. I decided to buy the Camera and battery grip. I did this late Friday night on October 10, 2008. I noticed on their site, they were closed on Saturday and Sunday and several days this month during the work week. I received a call from “Sam Moore” Sunday afternoon asking me to call him back to verify/confirm the order. When I called him back a couple of hours later, he had evidently left work.
I called the next Monday morning and talked with a guy named James. James preceded to tell me that the camera I bought was from the “UK” and what part of Europe was I going to use it. I told him that I am not in Europe or going to Europe. He stated that the camera that I want to buy is from the “UK” and that it is made of plastic. For an additional $200.00, I can get a new “USA” Nikon with full warranty and started adding sweet add-ons such as a 4 gig card, etc.
I am embarrassed to say that he totally had me, I said , yeah OK, I can live with that and he wanted to immediately send an email to me to confirm this, I told him that I was not as home and could not, he stated that he would send it and I needed to send the “confirmed” message thru email to him as soon as possible. On the way home I started thinking about this and had a gut feeling. When I got home, I started searching for complaints and boy did I find them.
Here is one in particular that caught my eye:
http://www.capsandstems.com/shared/photography_fraud.htm
I called them back on Monday October 13, 2008 and talked with Customer Representative “James” again. I told him that after thinking about this I have decided not to guy this camera or upgrade. After almost screaming at me, he informed me that I am obligated to buy this upgrade. I told him that I would buy the original camera and Battery grip, he told me that order had been cancelled since I wanted to upgrade. I told him at that time that I am cancelling this whole order and that I was being a victim of a scam. He laughed at me and told me that “Hey, I did not steal your Credit Card nor did I find your Credit card on the street”, by the way, we are charging you $300.00 for restocking fees.
I told him that I had not confirmed yet by email to him that I would buy this upgrade or the original, and how could this order be in a “restocking” phase. He told me that I had no recourse since it was company policy. I told him under no circumstance did I want this nor would I pay a restocking fee of $300.00, and that I was going to call the Attorny General’s office in NY to make a complaint, he laughed again and told me that they had already charged my card for $300 and hung up on me.
On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, I called my credit card company and as of this date they have not charge may card. I called my Credit Card company and they told me that I could do nothing at this point until they charge my card. This is very humiliating and yes I am fully aware that I let them “Scam” me, but for the regular buying looking for a deal, they have a very neatly, professional looking website, and trick their customers into upgrading or as a last resort hit them with this ridiculous “Restocking Fee”.
Now I am just waiting to see if they are actually going to charge my Credit Card. I feel absolutely helpless about this. Is there anything that can be done to these people? The above site gives a very good detailed information about this company and the name of the person who owns it, along with many names that have been used in the past. I absolutely do not know what to do except to place this complaint to your office and other websites including the BBB.
This place is the most wretched thing I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I would rather be mauled to death by a squirrel than ever deal with them again.

Written by p2h44g6sw, on 14-12-2008 00:12 I really wanted to get a nice video camera for my family as my grandma was dying and we needed to take lots of video of her with the family to preserve her memory. I went to fotoconnection because the price was so cheap. They had a really nice set-up that was much cheaper than anyone elses by far. I talked to the salesman who was very pushy and was trying to push many add ons that were very overpriced and un needed by me. He tried to push warranties and extra shipping prices on me as well. I told him I did not need these things and he asked me why I needed the camera. I told him and he said you really will want the american version of this camera as the version I want is an import from taiwan. I told him this is not right as I read it on the site and he became furious and started cussing and screaming at me over the phone. I asked him what in the world is wrong with you and he cursed me one more time and said thanks for wasting my time you F...ing idiot. He then said he hopes my granda dies and hung up the phone. I have never been angrier in my entire life and I am trying to save anyone here from going through this kind of un needed trauma as me and my family had to. These people are criminals and should be locked up behind bars. They have no heart or no soul. |
